13.04.22: Lakeward and thallos form joint venture to develop a residential area in Schwäbisch Gmünd

The ambitious residential quarter development ‘Eco Village’ in Schwäbisch Gmünd had already taken shape in the form of plans and concepts at the end of 2021: At that time, the project developer, thallos AG, submitted the building application for the residential quarter development with around 300 flats to the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd. A forward-looking concept that is intended to harmonise living comfort, an attractive appearance and the highest standards of climate-neutral building. Now, the Real Estate Fund launched by Lakeward Advisory AG in 2021 in cooperation with PMG Investment Solutions AG has founded a joint venture with thallos AG to realise this building project.

The new residential quarter, consisting of 11 building structures with around 300 flats for 600 residents and commercial space on the ground floor, paired with an electrified parking garage for e-mobility, will be built on an undeveloped plot of a former sports facility. Once completed and launched on the market, the residential quarter will offer attractive living space for families, couples, singles, students and senior citizens.

The central location as well as the local supply possibilities in the neighbourhood form a further, extremely important building block for the future-oriented and sustainable neighbourhood.

Werner Braun, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Thomas Schmitt, CEO of thallos AG agree: “Where generations of Gmünders have been playing sports, living space is to be created in innovative and climate-neutral construction. Thanks to the partnership with Lakeward, we can combine comprehensive knowledge from project management and in-depth experience in real estate development and excellently align our competences to the specifics of our sustainably oriented residential quarter development.” Werner Braun explains in detail: “This is an absolute lighthouse project, which is unparalleled in Germany, if not in Europe, due to the innovative timber module construction combined with hydrogen fuel cell technology. Due to this concept, we meet the highest possible ESG guidelines and achieve the highest possible standard at the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council): platinum.”

Simon Koenig, founder and CEO of Lakeward, adds: “Sustainability means balancing the economic, ecological and socio-cultural aspects in a way that preserves an intact environment and equal life opportunities for future generations. Through the ‘Lakeward Living Concept’, socially important criteria such as suitability for everyday use, cost reduction through planning, living in community or living for changing needs are also taken into account to create ecologically as well as economically sensible solutions for affordable housing and living spaces.”
